Ministries and Programs at Los Arcos UMC
There are a wide variety of ministries and programs at Los Arcos, especially considering
that we're a fairly small church (which means we have room for YOU!). Our
members (and attending non-members alike) are very giving of their time and talents,
doing God's work in the community. We distribute "Mobile Meals" to hungry
people, we collect and deliver food to the United Methodist Outreach Ministries Food Bank and provide other support to their programs for the homeless. We've helped to build homes for Habitat for Humanity, and participate in many more charitable and service activities.
A more detailed description is still in the works, but here's a brief list of some of
our ministries and programs:
- Sunday School
- Adult Sunday School classes meet at 8:30am in the New Horizons room, just off the Sanctuary.
- Sidewalk Sunday School / Los Arcos Alive!
- These two ministries are focused at the children and youth of our church neighborhood, and
take place most Saturdays. Sidewalk Sunday School meets during the school year next to our colorful
truck/stage in our parking lot and Los Arcos Alive meets during the Summer in the church sanctuary.
- Youth Ministry
- Our Junior and Senior High youth are very active young people, so their activities can't be
described on a weekly basis, but their meetings are held in the youth room, which is
just around the corner from the church office, complete with comfy couches and snacks! Our youth
participate in a wide variety of activities, frequently interacting with the youth from other churches,
including dances, summer camps, summer volleyball, service projects, and more.
- Bible Study
- Theme-oriented short-course Bible studies are offered on Thursday evenings in the New Horizons
room. They usually last for a series of four to six weeks, but people are welcome to participate
even on a "part-time" basis. Contact the church office for details.
- United Methodist Women
- An active ministry for women, including group meetings, "circles," a reading program,
and much more. There are group meetings on the first Monday of the month at 7:30pm in the Narthex
(the church entry), but also additional circle and other meetings, so please contact the church office
for details.
- United Methodist Men
- A mens group that meets on the first Monday of the month at 7:30pm in the New Horizons room. The group
sponsors a Boy Scout troop and supports other ministries, both at Los Arcos and also outside our church.
The meetings usually include a sing-along, a little business, and interesting programs.
- Music Ministry
- Our Handbell Choir rehearses on Wednesdays at 6:30pm in the church sanctuary, and the Chancel Choir
rehearses the same night at 7:30pm in the choir room (near the church office). The Chancel Choir takes
part in our weekly worship services from September through July. The Handbell Choir's season is usually
October through May. Our Music Ministry also includes vocal solos and opportunities for people who
play various musical instruments to participate. Questions? Contact David Topping via email at

- Men's Bible Study
- A men's Bible study group meets in the church library (within the office) on Thursday mornings at
7:00am.
- Brown Bag Ministry
- Food is distributed on Thursdays at 8:30am in the New Horizons room (in the same buliding as our
sanctuary) to the participants of the Brown Bag program.
